Het jonge Susato Trio bundelt de krachten met hun mentor en ervaren rot in het vak, altviolist Patrick Jüdt. Hij is professor altviool, kamermuziek en hedendaagse muziek aan de Bern University of the Arts en één van de artistiek leiders bij ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy). In het kader van ECMA speelde het Susato Trio vorige maand ook al in MIRY, naast twee andere topensembles.
In hun repertoirekeuze gaat het Susato Trio steeds op zoek naar muziek die onbedoeld of onterecht in de plooien van de tijd terecht kwam. Die plaatsen ze vervolgens naast bekender werk. Als trio trokken ze met die aanpak al meermaals de aandacht van verschillende wedstrijdjury’s. Zo wonnen ze in 2024 de eerste én de publieksprijs op de Supernova-wedstrijd van radiozender Klara. Nu breiden ze uit tot pianokwartet en kiezen ze onder meer voor het eerste Pianokwartet van Mozart.
The young Susato Trio is joining forces with their mentor and seasoned veteran, violist Patrick Jüdt. He is a professor of viola, chamber music and contemporary music at the Bern University of the Arts and one of the artistic directors at ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy). As part of ECMA, the Susato Trio also performed at MIRY last month, alongside two other top ensembles.
In selecting their repertoire, the Susato Trio is always on the lookout for music that has, unintentionally or unjustly, been lost in the mists of time. They then juxtapose these pieces with better-known works. As a trio, this approach has already caught the attention of various competition juries on several occasions. For example, in 2024 they won both first prize and the audience prize at the Supernova competition organised by radio station Klara. They are now expanding to a piano quartet and have chosen, amongst other works, Mozart’s First Piano Quartet.
