Raphaël Feuillâtre is voorlopig nog redelijk onbekend bij het grote publiek, maar is een van de meest geprezen klassieke gitaristen van het moment. De jonge fransman won in 2018 de Guitar Foundation of America Competition en in 2021 riep ADAMI hem uit tot ‘Classical Revelation’. En een revelatie is hij. Er volgde een platencontract bij Deutsche Grammophon in 2022 en twee zeer goed onthaalde albums: Visages Baroques en Spanish Serenades. Met eigen arrangementen breidt hij het repertoire voor klassieke gitaar uit en drukt er zo een eigen stempel op. Vooral muziek voor piano en klavecimbel trekt zijn aandacht, zoals ook blijkt uit de programmakeuze voor MIRY. Zijn frisse benadering en knisperende virtuositeit doen zowel Bach als Piazzolla alle eer aan en bewijzen dat de gitaar zowat het meest veelzijdige instrument ter wereld is.
Although Raphaël Feuillâtre is relatively unknown to the general public, he is one of the most acclaimed classical guitarists around today.
