Harawi is een twaalfdelige liedcyclus voor sopraan en piano die de onmogelijkheid van de sterfelijke liefde bezingt. Olivier Messiaen beschouwde het werk als de aanzet van zijn Tristan-trilogie. Deze trilogie, die dus rechtstreeks verwijst naar de gedoemde personages uit de literatuur, werd aangevuld met de monumentale Turangalîla-Symphonie en de Cinq rechants (beide voltooid in 1948). Anderzijds verwijst Harawi in haar titel naar een traditionele Peruviaanse liedjesvorm. Aan inspiratie dus geen tekort. Verwacht u dan maar aan enige romantiek vanavond, maar dan door de lens van Peruaanse folklore, surrealistische poëzie, Messiaense modi en karaktervolle metriek. Wij selecteerden alvast de perfecte uitvoerders voor dit epos. Zangeres Noa Vanden Broucke en pianist Bert Lasseel staan garant voor een even krachtige als gevoelige interpretatie.
