Samen met pianiste Diana Popal vormt mezzosopraan Esther Verheye al jaren een muzikale tandem. Bij de terugkeer naar hun Alma Mater (beide zijn immers alumnae van het Gentse KASK & Conservatorium) komen ze gewapend met een bont repertoire: van Romantisch Lied over cabaret tot Italiaans belcanto. Dat Verheye naast haar vocale capriolen ook op de gitaar van wanten weet, laat zich bovendien voelen in een goede bekendheid met Spaans en Latijns-Amerikaans repertoire. Xavier Montsalvatge en Astor Piazzolla zijn dan ook een kolfje naar haar hand.
Pianist Diana Popal, mezzo-soprano Esther Verheye have been a musical duo for years. Returning to their Alma Mater (both are alumnae of KASK & Conservatorium), they come with a wide range of music: from Romantic Lied and cabaret to Italian bel canto.
