The King’s Singers vertegenwoordigen al meer dan vijftig jaar de gouden standaard in a capella zingen, en dat op de grootste podia ter wereld. Ze staan bekend om hun ongeëvenaarde techniek en veelzijdigheid, waarbij ze zowel putten uit het rijke erfgoed van de groep als uit hun pioniersgeest om originele werken en samenwerkingsverbanden te creëren. The King’s Singers werden opgericht in 1968, toen zes recente koorzangers van het King’s College in Cambridge een concert gaven in de Londense Queen Elizabeth Hall. Toevallig bestond de groep uit twee contratenoren, een tenor, twee baritons en een bas; de groep heeft deze samenstelling sinds dat debuut behouden. Voor MIRY Concertzaal stellen ze een gevarieerde affiche samen met oude muziek, nieuwe muziek en close harmony. Een vleugje humor zal daarbij zeker niet ontbreken.
For over fifty years, The King’s Singers have represented the gold standard in a cappella singing on the world’s greatest stages. They are renowned for their unrivalled technique and versatility, drawing on the group’s rich heritage, as well as their pioneering spirit to create original works and collaborations. The King’s Singers were formed in 1968, when six recent choristers from King’s College, Cambridge, gave a concert at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. By chance, the group consisted of two countertenors, a tenor, two baritones and a bass; the group has maintained this composition since that debut. For the MIRY Concert Hall, they have put together a varied bill of old music, new music and close harmony. A touch of humour will not be missing at all.
