De Ethiopische Sosena Gebre Eyesus is één van de weinige hedendaagse beoefenaars van de beganna, ook wel bekend als ‘King David’s Harp’. Het is één van ‘s werelds oudste snaarinstrumenten en werd door aristocraten en priesters gebruikt om Ethiopisch-orthodoxe hymnes te begeleiden en kwade geesten te verdrijven.
De diepe, zoemende tonen van de beganna, gecombineerd met de zachte, kalmerende stem van Sosena creëert een bijzonder rustgevende sfeer. Be calm and be there.
Ameel Brecht
Componist en experimenteel muzikant Ameel Brecht ken je mogelijk van het collectief Razen, een project dat oude muziek, spectrale composities en psychedelische improvisaties combineert.
Hij specialiseert zich in esoterische stemmingen en resonanties op instrumenten zoals steel mandoline, gitaar en violone. Na ‘Polygraph Heartbeat’ (Kraak) ‘8-Infinities’ (Disco Transgénero) en ‘The Locked Room’ (blickwinkel) werkt hij nu aan een reeks tapes over het thema slaap op het Belgische blickwinkel-label, waarvan de derde tape in september 2024 verschijnt. Brecht componeerde muziek voor verschillende dansgezelschappen, (kort)films en documentaires, waaronder de soundtracks voor Bas Devos’ films Ghost Tropic en Here.

Het Gent Advanced Master Ensemble GAME bestaat uit de muzikanten en componisten van de MANAMA-opleiding Contemporary Music. Ze delen een verlangen naar dialoog, creatie, interdisciplinariteit en nieuwsgierigheid naar de nieuwste ontwikkelingen binnen de hedendaagse muziek.
Sinds 2013 is GAME actief in België (Q-O2, SMOG, Muziekcentrum de Bijloke, Vooruit,…), UK (Southhampton), Denemarken (SPOR festival), Duitsland, Griekenland (Big Bang), Frankrijk (Opéra de Lille) en Kroatië (IZLOG festival).
