Since the year 2000, the South Korean cellist, improviser and composer Okkyung Lee has embraced a broad and inspirational spectrum. Her specific sound meanders along noise, improvization, jazz, Western classical music and the traditional and popular music of her homeland. She is accompanied by established values from the New York experimental music scene: Lea Bertucci and Ben Vida. That duo joined forces just last year, when they found themselves living on opposite sides of the same mountain, just outside Woodstock. What began as a series of conversations between friends grew into their Murmurations album, in which instruments and voices become electroacoustic whisperings. The introductory programme is by the young Royal Conservatory graduate, Anita Cappuccinelli.
