Een concert waarin – schijnbaar – alles rond de maan draait, en niet andersom. Het is een gigantische sprong voor astronomen, maar slechts een kleine stap voor ensemble O/Modernt. Samen met mezzosopraan NN grasduint het collectief door Frans, Duits, Engels en Amerikaans liedrepertoire ter ere van Janneke M. – van sikkel tot schijf en weer terug. Onder het motto ‘Invent the past. Revise the future.’ houden ze ook enkele instrumentale kleppers kritisch tegen het euh… maanlicht. Het tragische openingsdeel uit Beethovens Mondscheinsonate krijgt zo een nieuw, vers gestreken jasje. Als apotheose verschijnt Richard Strauss’ Metamorphosen in een afgeslankte septetversie, waarin vijf thema’s, waaronder twee van zijn Bonnse collega, de ene gedaantewissel na de ander ondergaan.
A concert in which – seemingly – everything revolves around the moon, and not the other way around. It’s a giant leap for astronomers, but only a small step for ensemble O/Modernt. Together with mezzo-soprano NN, the collective delves through French, German, English and American song repertoire in honor of Luna – from crescent to disk and back again. Under the motto ‘Invent the past. Revise the future.’ they also like to shed a new moonlight on a couple of golden oldies. Thus, the tragic opening movement from Beethoven’s Mondscheinsonate appears in a new shinny jacket. As an apotheosis we hear a slimmed-down septet version of Richard Strauss’ Metamorphoses, in which five themes, including two by his colleague from Bonn, pass from one phase to another, coming full circle.
