De Zweedse componiste en muzikante Maria Horn creëert met haar orgelklanken en beklijvende live elektronica een hybride klankspel. Op het programma staat onder andere haar werk Konvektion. De uitvoerders krijgen daarbij de opdracht de lengte van de akkoorden te synchroniseren met de ritmiek van hun eigen ademhaling. Orgelpijpen en longen worden zodoende verbonden in een circulair systeem waarin de grens tussen instrument en mens zoetjesaan vervaagt. Ook eufoniumspeler Niels van Heertum beheerst de techniek van de vibrerende lucht. Vorig jaar nog wist hij tijdens zijn online concert via Sound of Ghent de toehoorders de adem te benemen. Maar hoe knap ook de live captatie, de viscerale ervaring van trillend geluid bleef achterwege. Reden te meer dus om in levenden lijve uw limbisch systeem en musculi arrectores pilorum te komen blootstellen aan zijn zenachtige improvisaties.
Als opener van de avond treedt Matterhorn Well aan. Het duo jonge wolven Matthias Dewilde & Imre De Cauter zoekt ijle en desolate hoogtes op met hun unieke sound van fender rhodes en cello. Matthias zit momenteel in z’n laatste jaar aan ons eigenste KASK & Conservatorium en Imre ken je wellicht van het duo met haar vader gitarist Myrddin De Cauter.

The performers are given the task of synchronizing the length of the chords with the rhythm of their own breathing. In this way, organ pipes and lungs are connected in a circular system in which the boundary between instrument and human gradually becomes blurred. Euphonium player Niels van Heertum is also a master of the technique of vibrating air. Last year, during his online concert with Sound of Ghent, he still managed to take his audience’s breath away.
