Men zou zich kunnen afvragen wat de muziek van de Engelse renaissance-componist Byrd te maken heeft met die van de Fransman Debussy en de Japanner Takemitsu, want zowel historisch, geografisch als stilistisch gezien zijn ze ver van elkaar verwijderd. Pianist Jano Wijnants vond echter een verbindende factor in de organische structuur die het werk van de drie componisten typeert. Die is zo naturel dat zelfs de meest rationele mensen onder ons er probleemloos op kunnen wegdromen.
One might well wonder what the music of the English Renaissance composer Byrd has in common with that of the Frenchman Debussy and the Japanese composer Takemitsu, for they are worlds apart in historical, geographical and stylistic terms. Pianist Jano Wijnants, however, found a connecting factor in the organic structure that characterises the work of the three composers. It is so natural that even the most rational among us can easily lose ourselves in it.
