Want groot als hij mag zijn, in klassieke kringen is hij al te vaak veroordeeld tot de krochten van het orkest. James Oesi, basvirtuoos en directeur van het Dutch Double Bass Festival, bewijst dat het anders kan en plaatst het instrument geheel solo in de schijnwerpers. Sterker nog, hij onderwerpt het instrument aan de ultieme strijkliteratuur… de cellosuites van J.S. Bach! En jawel hoor, de oude reus komt bepaald flexibel voor de dag, met een palet ongehoorde boventonen die dit geijkte repertoire een frisse kwartslag toedienen.
